Our Trip To The Highland Park Library

On Friday,30th May some of the Year 3 students went to the Highland Park Library with Mrs. Morgan. It was Samoan language week. Several people from the Auckland Museum came to teach us what it was like in the past when the Samoans used rocks, shells and bones. We sang songs and danced too. At the end all of us got a bookmark, a lei and some candy. Several people got some pencils because they won some games.

SPACE JUMP-
Year three went to a show called ... SPACE JUMP it was about a girl going to another planet from earth. She was replaced with another girl to get information on books.

Move and Groove

Dear Parents/caregivers,

As you are aware, Wakaaranga has its move and groove performance at the end of this term in 6 weeks’ time. We in 1B have chosen the song “Waka Waka”, which was the official 2010 FIFA world cup song.

This is to let you know that the children will be dancing in black tights/pants/colourful t shirt with no footwear. Most children indicated that they had a colourful t shirt or black leggings/pants etc.

We have already begun practising the dance moves and the lyrics have been sent home too. Please encourage them to learn them and have fun with the words!

Many thanks for all your support!

“My Speech”
On Thursday, it was the Year 3 and 4 speech final competition. I was in the finals. Mr. Munroe was the judge. In Year 3 there were all girls and in Year 4, all boys. When everyone was done, Mr. Munroe talked about how to say a speech. Then he told the names of the winners. I was the one from Year 3. I got a trophy, a medal and a certificate. I felt really, really happy that I won. My mum was in the audience. Mr. Munroe said that while you are giving a speech you must be entertaining.

Swimming

Every Friday our class and Mrs Wee's class goes to Lloyd Elsmore for swimming. We go just before lunch. Our class gets divided into three groups. The people who are not really comfortable at swimming will go in the first group. The people who are quite comfortable in swimming go in the second group and so on. On one of the days we took of our goggles and learned how to jump of a boat and also learned how to keep safe when we're in the middle of the ocean. It was really fun learning how to swim! Week 9 is the last week of swimming for Year 3.

Ambury Park Trip

Trip Photos.jpg

On Wednesday, Year 3 went on a trip to Ambury Park farm to learn about dairy farming. Locky and Jennifer gave us some information on cows and dairy. Then we went to make butter with milk. Jennifer showed us how to milk cows in the milking shed and then we did a drama on how milk reaches from the milking shed to the supermarkets for us to buy. Later we fed some animals, had our lunch and came back to school.

Wakaaranga School Gala
Gosh! On Saturday, 1st of November, my mum, my dad, Chris and I went to the Wakaaranga School gala! My mum went early because she was helping the people sell delicious Chinese food. My dad, Chris and I walked to school from our house. When we arrived me and my brother got an ice slushy. Chris also got candyfloss. Afterwards we went on a bouncy castle called Mission Impossible. Next we went on a huge slide. We were allowed to slide down it three times. When we were sliding down, my dad recorded us with his phone. After that we went on the water balls. Two people could go in one ball. Me and my brother were in one. When my brother was rolling the ball I was pushing other balls away from us. After five minutes we went off. After a while my mum came. She gave us all a chicken leg and some noodles. My favourite part was the water balls. Finally it was time to go home. This was the best gala ever!
